The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN", a center governed by the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, organized a training course in counseling and guidance in the field of social protection and rehabilitation, presented by Dr. Talal Al-Rawahi, Director of the Dr. Talal Al-Rawahi Institute for Consultation and Training in the Sultanate of Oman, for the Protection and Rehabilitation Departments, which lasted for five days.

The course focused on providing the trainees with basic skills of counseling and guidance in the field of social protection and rehabilitation for the target groups of women, children and victims of family breakdown resulting from domestic violence. In addition to developing the skills of the participants in psychological, social and legal counseling and guidance, and improving performance in line with the latest scientific theories and developments, through practical training. In addition, the course includes how to conduct counseling interviews and learn about proper ways to deal with the target groups benefiting from the services of the AMAN Center and the ability to find the most appropriate solutions to any problem, using modern methods and techniques.

One of the most important themes that Dr. Talal Al-Rawahi focused on is the power of motivation and how to build a personality capable of resisting obstacles in social work. He talked about breaking the ice and the power of motivation, and the most important techniques of personal communication. He also discussed the subjects like the psychology of expressions and engineering psychological success, through which Dr. Talal focused on the most important goals of the training course, by highlighting the topic of empowering participants in how to give advice, and how can the participants become consultants for themselves.

In this context, Ms. Amna Al-Mahmoud, Director of the Protection Department at AMAN Center, highlighted “the importance of organizing such training courses for the affiliates of the Protection and Rehabilitation Departments, with the aim of the continuous development of its members, and to build up the competencies of workers in the field of providing social protection and rehabilitation for the target groups of the AMAN Center, and to benefit from the acquisition of knowledge and experiences for any issue related to improving social work, including how to guide, counsel and handle any cases of violence exposure".

On the other hand, Ms. Sabeeka Al-Nasr, Director of the Rehabilitation Department at AMAN Center, emphasized on the extent to which social, psychological and legal specialists have benefited from such training courses, in which exchange of experiences and acquisition of new knowledge in the field of guidance and counsel in the field of social protection and rehabilitation, which in turn will contribute to achieving the center's vision, mission and strategic objectives to reduce violence."

It is worth noting that the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN" is concerned with protecting and rehabilitating women and children victims of violence and family breakdown, and reintegrating them into society.
